Introducing vCluster Cloud - beta
We recently launched a new version of vCluster Platform, which is installed on a Kubernetes cluster that you own. Until now, that would be in the cloud, on-prem, or a control plane cluster that could be running other services. What if we made it easier, and all you would need to do is bring a cluster where you want to run your virtual clusters and workloads?
As the title suggests, we did make it easier, and we’re calling it vCluster Cloud. It’s currently in beta but provides an even easier path to try out the vCluster Platform. We’re very interested in getting feedback about your experiences and how you are using it—join our Slack and the #vcluster channel. Here are some of the use cases we have come up with for it, but there are probably more.
- Explore the platform without having to install it yourself
- Activate Pro features for a virtual cluster without having to set up the platform to receive a license key
- Run a proof of concept
- Experiment with new releases before upgrading your installation of vCluster Platform
- Test configuration changes in a sandbox
vCluster Cloud is in beta and is still evolving. Keep that in mind when using it (for now), and focus on non-production use cases. It’s great for a proof of concept, a way to demo to users some of the power of vCluster Platform, and as a quick start to explore the features.
Next Steps

We hope everyone had a great time at KubeCon and is excited about the announcement of vCluster Cloud. Give it a try, and let us know how you like it; we’re looking for all kinds of feedback. Help us build something that makes vCluster more accessible for everyone.
